gen 2 glock 19 review

Gen 2 Glock 19 Review - The Glock 19 Review: What You Need to Know - The Glock 19 is known for its boxy polymer and metal frame, mystical reliability and stealth. It is one of the best concealed carry pistols and has become popular with people. But is this weapon for you? I have run many guns from many gun manufacturers and decided it was time to do a formal review of the Glock 19.

The Glock 19 has an iconic square shape, with a lower frame made of durable polymer and a metal slide. With the exception of the Glock 44, I have never seen this much of a slot on a Glock frame and that is a relief to me as I am used to the lightweight nature of my 19's.

The metal inner work, slide and barrel are made of treated steel like all modern pistols. Now, while HK may have pioneered it, Glock perfected and popularized the polymer pistol frame.

It has proven decade after decade that its polymer frame design is durable and reliable, and the Glock 19 continues the tradition. You will find that it is remarkably difficult to damage the Glock 19 in any meaningful way.

The Glock 19 is also exceptionally streamlined with no tactical features or external safeties getting in the way. Some new shooters may be a little sketchy due to the lack of an external safety mechanism, but as you become more comfortable with the gun, you will find that the most important safety mechanism is your mind and hand.

The streamlined design reduces some weight and shrinks the profile considerably making it great for concealment, which is one of the reasons why this pistol has become one of the most popular pistols in the world. As a bonus, Glocks are almost infinitely customizable, whether for aesthetic or competition modes.

The Glock 19 is a perfectly capable gun when it comes to accuracy, but there is little variation when it comes to nailing shots on top of each other, especially when you get beyond 25 yards.

The Amend2 Glock Magazine: A New Contender

Accuracy is useful for most situations and minor variations do not prevent it from being a common racing/competition gun, service weapon or firearm. I'm no Jerry Miculek, but my rounds landed where I wanted them at 25 yards, always within an inch of each other. You can trust the Glock 19 for its accuracy, but it's not the best in the world.

Magazines aren't usually something I stress about, but when it comes to compact handguns, I have to talk about it. The Glock 19 has a large double-stacked mag capacity of 15 rounds of 9mm plus one. The magazine size is excellent for a compact pistol designed for everyday carry. 15 rounds became the standard for compact guns and Glock was at the forefront with 19. G19: How reliable?

Now, to the fame of the Glock brand: reliability. I call it black magic, some call it superior craftsmanship, but either way the reliability of the Glock 19 is firmly locked down. The Glock platform has remained relatively unchanged over the years, which means Glock doesn't have to spend time innovating, they just spend time refining their design.

The Glock 19 has three internal safeties; Trigger safety, pin safety and drop safety. The trigger safety is engaged until the trigger finger fully depresses the running ridge in the center of the trigger; This prevents inadvertent discharge through spits. The firing pin safety is completely internal and prevents the firing pin from moving until the trigger is pulled.

Finally, a drop safety, like a firing pin safety, prevents any internals from moving until the trigger is pulled. Misfires are borderline non-existent with Glocks due to their many moving parts and lack of simple design.

So if you're looking for a wallet-friendly, reliable, and concealable gun, I highly recommend the Glock 19. Given the huge demand for guns these days, trying to buy one right now, well, good luck.
